Legal
Privacy
Policy.
This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used and protected when you visit the Piazono website, download or activate Piazono, subscribe to product news, contact support or purchase the software.
Last updated: 14 August 2026
01 — Overview
Privacy by design.
Piazono is designed to collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate the website, provide customer support, manage product communications, process software licensing and protect the service against misuse.
You do not need to create a Piazono website account to download the free trial or purchase the software.
02 — Data controller
Who is responsible for your information.
The controller responsible for personal information processed directly by Piazono is:
03 — Information we receive
What information may be collected.
Support requests
If you contact support@piazono.com , we receive the information you choose to include in your message.
This may include:
- your email address;
- your name, if you provide it;
- your order number;
- licence or activation information relevant to your request;
- screenshots, error messages or technical details you choose to send.
Newsletter subscription
If you voluntarily subscribe to the Piazono newsletter, your email address is collected for the purpose of sending occasional Piazono news, release information and product updates.
Newsletter subscription is optional and is not required to download the free trial, purchase Piazono, activate a licence or receive product support.
Purchases
Piazono does not directly collect or store your payment card details.
Purchases are processed through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record for Piazono transactions.
Lemon Squeezy may collect and process information necessary to complete and administer your purchase, including contact, billing and payment information, according to its own privacy policy and applicable terms.
Piazono may receive information associated with the purchase where necessary to provide the software, licensing and customer support. This may include your name, email address, order information and licence information.
Website technical information
The hosting infrastructure used for the Piazono website may generate standard technical and security logs when the website is accessed.
Depending on the hosting configuration, these logs may include information such as an IP address, browser or device information, date and time of access, and the requested web resource.
Such information is used only where necessary for website operation, security, troubleshooting and prevention of abuse.
04 — Licence activation
Information used for licensing.
Piazono uses Lemon Squeezy's licensing service to verify valid licence keys and manage permitted software activations.
When Piazono is activated, the licence key and technical information necessary to identify and manage the activation are transmitted to the licensing service.
This may include a technical identifier of the computer on which Piazono is installed.
Piazono also stores locally on the computer information required to remember the licence activation and periodically verify its validity.
Licensing information is used for purposes such as:
- verifying that a licence key is valid;
- identifying an authorised activation;
- determining whether the permitted activation limit has been reached;
- supporting activation on a replacement computer;
- detecting revoked or disabled licences;
- preventing unauthorised licence use.
A standard Piazono licence may be activated on up to two computers, subject to the licence terms applicable at the time of purchase.
05 — Legal bases
Why we are permitted to process information.
Where the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, personal information is processed only where an appropriate legal basis exists.
- Consent — for optional newsletter communications that you have chosen to receive.
- Performance of a contract — where processing is necessary to provide a purchased Piazono licence, activate the software, administer the licence or provide customer support connected with the purchase.
- Legitimate interests — where necessary to operate and secure the website and licensing system, investigate technical problems, prevent abuse and protect Piazono against unauthorised licence use, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
- Legal obligations — where information must be processed or retained in order to comply with applicable laws or lawful requests.
06 — Newsletter
Product news by email.
Piazono offers an optional newsletter containing product announcements, new features, software updates and other Piazono-related information.
We send these communications only to people who have chosen to subscribe. Subscription requires an explicit action on your part and is never added automatically as a result of a purchase, a download or a support request.
How the newsletter is managed
Newsletter subscriptions are managed using Listmonk, an open-source newsletter application installed and operated on infrastructure controlled for Piazono rather than in a third-party marketing platform account.
The information stored for a newsletter subscriber is limited to what is required to manage the subscription, such as the email address, the subscription status and the information necessary to record or demonstrate that the subscription was requested.
Newsletter emails are delivered through Mailjet, which acts as the email delivery provider for Piazono newsletter messages.
Tracking
Piazono does not use newsletter email-open tracking pixels or link-click tracking. The technical records required to enable such tracking have not been configured.
This means that we do not know whether an individual subscriber has opened a newsletter or followed a link contained in it.
If this changes in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before such tracking is introduced.
Unsubscribing
You may withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every newsletter email.
Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not affect your Piazono licence, your purchases or your ability to contact support.
07 — How information is used
Why we use personal information.
Personal information may be used to:
- reply to support requests;
- provide and administer Piazono licences;
- investigate licence or activation problems;
- help users move a licence to another computer;
- send newsletters when you have subscribed;
- maintain the security and integrity of the website and licensing system;
- prevent fraud, misuse or unauthorised licence use;
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
Personal information collected for one purpose is not intentionally used for unrelated marketing purposes without an appropriate legal basis.
08 — Service providers
Who may process information.
Piazono relies on a limited number of service providers where necessary to operate the website, distribute the software, handle email, process purchases and manage licences.
Lemon Squeezy
Lemon Squeezy processes Piazono purchases as merchant of record and provides the licensing infrastructure used for Piazono licence keys and activations.
Information processed by Lemon Squeezy is also subject to Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy and applicable terms.
Cloudflare
Cloudflare provides the hosting for the Piazono website, the storage used to distribute the Piazono installer, the domain name system for piazono.com and the associated network security services.
In providing these services, Cloudflare may process standard technical and security information such as an IP address, browser or device information, the date and time of access and the requested web resource.
Infomaniak
Email sent to and from support@piazono.com is hosted by Infomaniak, a hosting provider established in Switzerland.
Support correspondence is therefore stored on Infomaniak infrastructure.
Mailjet
Newsletter emails are delivered through Mailjet, a company established in France.
Mailjet processes email addresses and technical delivery information only as necessary to deliver messages and manage delivery failures, subject to its own applicable privacy terms.
Newsletter server hosting
The self-hosted Listmonk installation used to manage newsletter subscriptions is hosted by:
VPS PROVIDER Contabo GmbH
Hosting location: Germany
The hosting provider may process technical information only to the extent necessary to provide server, storage, network, backup and security services.
09 — International transfers
Processing outside the European Economic Area.
Some service providers used in connection with purchases, licensing, hosting or email delivery may process information outside the European Economic Area.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for such transfers, appropriate mechanisms are used by the relevant parties, such as an applicable adequacy decision, contractual safeguards or other legally recognised transfer mechanisms.
Further information about a specific provider's international data-processing arrangements can be found in that provider's privacy documentation.
10 — Cookies and analytics
Website tracking.
The Piazono website is intended to remain lightweight and does not require a customer account.
Piazono does not currently use advertising cookies or third-party behavioural analytics on the public website.
Piazono does not load the Mautic visitor-tracking script on the public website unless the Privacy Policy and, where legally required, the website's consent mechanism are updated before that tracking is introduced.
Strictly necessary technical storage may still be used where required to provide a requested service, maintain security or remember essential preferences.
11 — Retention
How long information is kept.
Personal information is not intended to be kept indefinitely. Retention depends on the purpose for which the information was collected and on any applicable legal, contractual or security requirements.
Newsletter information
Newsletter contact information is retained while you remain subscribed.
If you unsubscribe, information necessary to record the unsubscribe request may be retained for a limited period where necessary to demonstrate that the request was respected and to prevent unwanted communications.
Support correspondence
Support correspondence is retained only for as long as it remains reasonably useful for resolving the request, related technical issues, licence administration, customer service or the handling of a legal claim.
Licence information
Information required to administer a Piazono licence may be kept for as long as the licence remains valid or needs to be supported.
Limited licence or transaction records may be retained afterwards where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, customer support, dispute handling or legal obligations.
Technical logs
Website and server security logs are retained only for a limited period determined by the operational and security requirements of the hosting infrastructure, unless a longer period is required to investigate a security incident or comply with law.
12 — Your rights
Your personal information.
Depending on the law applicable to you, you may have rights relating to your personal information.
Under European data-protection law, these may include the right to:
- request access to personal information concerning you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion of information where the applicable legal conditions are met;
- request restriction of certain processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests where applicable;
- receive certain information in a portable format where the right to data portability applies;
- withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on your consent.
Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the consent was withdrawn.

We may request sufficient information to confirm your identity before responding to a request where this is reasonably necessary to protect personal information.
Right to lodge a complaint
If you are located in France, you also have the right to lodge a complaint concerning the processing of your personal information with the French data-protection authority:
Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL)
You may also have the right to contact the competent supervisory authority in another European Union or European Economic Area country where applicable.
13 — Security
Protecting information.
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal information against unauthorised access, accidental loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.
Access to systems containing personal information is intended to be limited to persons and service providers who require that access for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
However, no internet-based service or storage system can guarantee absolute security.
14 — Changes
Changes to this policy.
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the Piazono website, newsletter, licensing system, business operations or third-party services change.
The current version will be published on this page together with its latest update date.
